GRACE Playground
Maximizing play value and minimizing installation costs for creative playground structures.
Freeplay, an established playground designer, contacted End Effect when their latest project began to experience design challenges and schedule drags. Several structures were already in the process of being built, while others were in the late stages of detailing, and each had their own problems to be overcome. Freeplay was also struggling with managing the project as a whole.
We began by getting familiar with the ASTM playground codes and tackling the design challenges of the builds in process to ensure they did not propagate to require further rework. From there, the remaining assemblies were redesigned to meet structural, aesthetic, and transportation requirements. We worked closely with Freeplay’s contract manufacturer to resolve new issues as they arose to keep the build on schedule, including writing shipping, installation, and repair instructions for Freeplay’s customer.
The GRACE project was a success, with accolades from the customer’s community and the structures seeing immediate use by the area’s children. Freeplay has since gone on to contract End Effect to develop a larger catalog of designs in the same style as that of the GRACE playgrounds.
“End Effect was instrumental to completing a struggling build of ours. They dove in and quickly diagnosed lingering design and manufacturing issues and worked to usher the project to the finish line. Their ability to collaborate with our suppliers and customers to provide workable, effective solutions was a great asset. End Effect has an eye for detail, organization, and quality, and is also a pleasure to work with.”
